I have a friend + She had a birthday party = I had to make a gift. Love that equation because it is a great excuse to make something new and sometimes totally out of the ordinary. The second I got her invitation, I went onto fabric.com to see if I could find the perfect fabric for her. This friend especially likes orange (it's her favorite color) and zebras/zebra print. I ordered the appropriate fabric and waited anxiously for it to come in the mail. I wasn't sure what I was actually making; I wanted to touch and see the fabric so that my mind could come up with some ideas.
About two weeks before the party, I went through some of my quilting books and patterns and found one that would work. I wasn't sure if the two fabrics I bought would make an appealing quilt, but I got started and sewed it up. Even after it was finished I wasn't sure if I had gone overboard or not; too much orange? too much zebra print? too many zebras?
Well, even if you think I went overboard, she loved it, which, of course, was the point. She even posted it to her facebook page...ahh, how sweet.
That's great!
