While my mother-in-law was here I was able to go out and do lots of things. One of those things was to go to library. I hadn't been to the library in months. When I was pregnant I had no desire to read anything. Then I had some babies and decided to just read some of the books I own. But going to the library reminded me that I am a librarian and reading library books is fun. I'm not quite sure how I will get to the library to return the books but I'll just keep renewing until I figure it out.
I just finished reading Things We Know By Heart by Jessi Kirby. If you remember that lovely movie with David Duchovny called Return to Me, it is almost just like that, but with older teenagers. Poor Quinn just lost the love of her life and he just happened to be an organ donor. After meeting all of the other recipients of his organs, she searches out the one who holds his heart. She struggles emotionally as she meets the recipient and keeps her identity a secret while he opens her eyes to the beauty of the world again.
This is a fast and enjoyable read. There is one iffy romantic part but it was perfect for what it was. This is a coming of age story for Quinn as she remembers how to live after the death of a loved one. In a less prominent way it is also a coming of age story for Colton as he comes to grips with his new heart. The story contains themes of loss, love, family and overcoming challenges.
