My pride and joy

Are any of my loyal fans still out there??  You may be wondering what happened to my wonderful crafts and baked goods.  Well, probably not since even stereotypical housewives get busy with housewifery.  But in this case I have not been busy with housewifery!  Other people have been fixing my meals and cleaning my house in an interesting turn of events.  While they do most of the work, I have been working on my pride and joy; that one great quilt to rule all quilts.

It all began in Bird-in-Hand, a modest quilt shop in Amish country in March of 2011.  I saw a fabric that was green and purple and I love green and purple and immediately loved this fabric.  And luckily, we had just purchased a couch that was the exact green of the fabric.  I became obsessed, and I mean obsessed.  My obsession subsided after I made the quilt top and pinned it together.  Unfortunately, it has been waiting for my attention for about 8 months.  Well finally, because of the aforementioned conditions, I was able to finish it this very day.  I love it.  I'm glad I finished it.  And I have 4 pillowtops for our couch pillows to match.  Boy, I can't wait!

This quilt is a size full and it is intended to be folded over the back of my couch.  Here is a detail on the quilting that I did by machine.  It mimicks the leafy pattern of the main fabrics.

And here is one of the pillows that I finished way back in November.

Now do you understand why I've been away so long this week?  This thing is my one great masterpiece of the year.

  1. I listened to you toiling as you quilted the "masterpiece." Congratulations for finishing a beautiful quilt. The photos don't do it justice. :-}
