Tonto Natural Bridge State Park Waterfall Trail

When we first decided that Sedona was going to be our next get-away location, I started looking for interesting things to do there.  Like many others, I am not too fond of big summer crowds: hence you will never see me at Disneyland in the summer unless there is much persuasion.  After Internet searching, I found this out of the way state park, a mere 90 minutes from Sedona.  Perfect.  Coincidentally, it is also 90 minutes from Phoenix so I highly recommend it for people who are out and about.  So, I figured no one would be there because it is in the middle of nowhere.  And I was almost right.  There were maybe 30 people there and they had a 50 % military discount: score!

The first trail we went on was the Waterfall trail.  It is a 300 foot long trail, but I'd like to know the elevation difference because that was a little rough.  Good thing it was short and shaded.

Here is the lodge, built in 1925ish and on the historical register.  It also shows the scenery-very picturesque for Arizona.

Some yellow columbine flowers.  I thought they were pretty.

When I first started down the trail I thought, 'wow; it's like being in a cave but not.'  The formations remind me of cave formations but I was standing outside.  I thought it was pretty cool.

Here is the waterfall itself.  It wasn't very big but it was nice and cool and you got to have it drip on you.

Looking up toward the sky near the waterfall.  It was very lush.

Here is the trail, or the so-called "uneven steps" that make up the trail.  Not suitable for anyone really, but we make do with what there is.  As already said, at least it was shady.
