New Placemats

Someone I know (you know who you are) was complaining that I don't blog on here anymore.  In case you didn't know, I am pregnant with triplets.  I am less of a housewife now and more of a baby incubator.  There's no time for all that housewivery now.  Making babies can be hard work, even if you're just making one, let alone three!!  In any case, my husband is taking over most of the housewife duties anyway (though he hasn't started completing my sewing projects yet so it's not a perfect system).  So I had a brief time at the end of my first trimester when I had a ton of energy and made a few items of clothing and things.  Then I had a miserable time where I laid on the couch all the time.  Now, I am in a nice second trimester period of having at least some energy.  So I was able to complete some new placemats.  It is actually a set of four but I have only been able to complete two of them so far.  But two is enough for my husband and me so the other two will come along in their time.

I bought this fabric in Indiana last fall.  I bought it specifically for summer placemats and because I thought the fabric was slightly ridiculous (and it was on sale).  Now that the placemats are made I think they are even more ridiculous but also pretty awesome in their own right.  They are super busy, but they make me smile so that's the most important thing.  They are checkered with lady bugs all over them; just the sort of companions you want while you're eating, right?

Here's the close up of the fabric.
