Thought of the Sunday 18

I would love to tell you that I did all sorts of cool things this week that I can blog about, but all I really did was lay down most of the time.  I can't even remember the last time I've sewn something!  But I am a very religious person and can always share a little thought even when I am tired and/or miserable.  I love music and today I played the organ in church.  Our hymnal has 341 hymns in it, including Christmas, Easter, and Patriotic hymns.  Here is one of my favorite hymns (I have a lot). It is hymn #299 entitled Children of our Heavenly Father:

Children of our Heavenly Father
Safely in his bosom gather;
Nestling bird nor star in heaven
Such a refuge e'er was given.

Neither life nor death shall ever
From the Lord his children sever;
Unto them his grace he showeth,
And their sorrows all he knoweth.

Though he giveth or he taketh,
God his children ne'er forsaketh;
His the loving purpose solely
To preserve them pure and holy.

These sweet words remind me of how much my Father in Heaven loves me.  He will gather me to his bosom.  He shows me grace and knows all my sorrows.  Though life doesn't always work out as planned, He will never leave me totally alone.  He wants me to succeed.  This is a hymn I got to know very well as I lived and served in Norway on a mission for the Church.  It brings back memories of a time when I could readily see these blessings in my life.  I must say, though, that I can see those blessings now too.  Just this week as I was feeling particularly horrible in the middle of the night, I called out to Him in prayer and He answered.  I was able to fall asleep and two hours later I woke up and felt normal.  It is a great blessing for me in my life to know that God is there and that He loves me.

Psalms 145:9 sums up my feelings about this hymn.  It says, "The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works."
