Mosiah 29:20, "...and thus doth the Lord work with his power in all cases among the children of men, extending the arm of mercy towards them that put their trust in him."
2 Nephi 22:2 which compares with Isaiah 12:2, "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation."
2 Nephi 4:32 "O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm."
Helaman 12:1 "...the Lord in his great infinite goodness doth bless and prosper those who put their trust in him."
These verses emphasize to me that if I trust the Lord then He will always have good things in store for me. He will be my strength and extend mercy to me in times of need. He will bless me according to my needs, especially in my need to improve and become a better disciple.
In my study this week I also learned (or felt) that trusting in God is basically the same thing as having faith in God. Elder Scott gave this quote in April 2003, "Motivating faith is centered in trust in the Lord and in His willingness to answer your needs. For “the Lord … doth bless and prosper those who put their trust in him.” The consistent, willing exercise of faith increases your confidence and ability to employ the power of faith."
So I work on increasing my faith and trust so that I know that whatever happens truly is God's will for me and that He knows exactly what I need. I may not think I need the things that happen to me, but with that faith and trust, I can know that God knows more than I do and sees more than I see. I also know that He loves me no matter what.
