Pottery Painting

I finally got to try out one of those "paint your own pottery and we'll put it in the kiln for you" places and it was awesome.  Actually, it wasn't so awesome because I was planning on creating a birthday dinner plate but they didn't have any plates to decorate!  Amazing that they were all out of plates on the day we planned to do this.  Ugh.  So with quick thinking I came up with another great idea and then it was awesome again.   

Some of you may or may not know how much I love oatmeal.  My mission companions should remember that I ate oatmeal practically everyday.  And in college I remember one year specifically that I ate oatmeal regularly for two meals a day (okay I was poor and/or too busy to make food).  In conclusion, I thought I should decorate a bowl specific to my ever-increasing love of oatmeal.  Dedicated to that great breakfast-lunch-dinner treat, here it is:

This is the unglazed bowl.  What you can't see is the outer shell of the bowl.  It is green like the top border and has purple writing around it. 

Here is the finished bowl looking sparkly and new and shiny.  I etched out that chevron pattern after I had painted the inside purple (my camera doesn't produce purple color very accurately).

I'm sure you wish I had a picture of the outside of the bowl because it says something super special in reverence to that great food.  That's right, you guessed it: "Oatmeal is Life."  Am I crazy or what?  (okay, don't answer that)
