Did we really just go to Disneyland?

My husband recently returned from a very long "vacation" and we, in turn, took our own vacation to the happiest place on earth: Disneyland.  What could be better than Disney everywhere you look: Disney songs, Disney princesses, Disney rides, Mickey Mouse ears everywhere.  What a dream.  We stayed in an off-the-beaten-path hotel (I say that because it was in a totally different city than Anaheim.  There's not really an off-the-beaten-path anything in southern California).  It was fabulous.  I actually didn't take very many pictures and the majority of them are of Sleeping Beauty's Castle because I love Sleeping Beauty and her castle.  I'll just make a separate post about that stunning castle.

Anyway.  We had a three-day park hopper pass and we spent the majority of our time at Disneyland.  We spent half a day in California Adventure.  That was a totally different kind of theme park, but still good, I suppose.  Not as good as Disneyland, of course.  The moment we stepped into Disneyland on the first day there, I had to go on a ride; any ride at all.  We ended up going on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.  Very awesome.  It was about that time that my husband dropped the bomb, saying, "I don't really like roller coasters.  I thought you knew that."  Ha!  I did not know that, but I didn't let that stop us.  He was a good sport and went on everything I did at least once, except California Screamin' which is a real, bonafide roller coaster with an upsidedown loop and everything.

The second thing we did was take care of a little punishment.  Earlier in the week, my husband did something that I didn't like very much and I said, "If you do that again then you are riding on the teacups...ALONE."  He agreed.  Alas, he did it again before we left for Disneyland and that meant a little ride on the teacups for my husband.  Here is the proof.

He did survive and we went to find another ride to go on.  We stopped at a local facepainter's booth and I got some Eye Flash.  Awesome.  Then we went on all the cool rides and we went on all the rides in Tomorrowland.  My husband's big excitement was going to see Captain Eo again, which he saw (and according to my mom I also saw) when we were younger (maybe 20 years ago or more).  It was pretty cool, I must admit.  In fact, we watched it twice and got t-shirts to prove it.

Captian Eo is in 3-D if you didn't know.

We also rode on It's a Small World because it's awesome.

We wandered around Tom Sawyer's Island which Disneyland has temporarily renamed the Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer's Island.  Not sure where they're going with that but from what I could remember, it was the same as it was 25 years ago.

We went on the Storybook Land ride and got swallowed by a giant whale!

We also got stuck on the Indiana Jones ride so they let us ride again, which was awesome since it is a pretty long wait.

Our third day I got another face painting of a unicorn.  It was awesome. I love face painting!

Here is the first picture we took of California Adventure.  The weather was cool and cloudy and it stayed that way all day with some sprinkles in the evening.

We went to A Bug's Land and felt like we were itty-bitty bugs

We also went on King Triton's Carousel and I was lucky enough to get a fabulous seahorse.  My husband got a not-so-fabulous fish which we didn't even capture "on film."

Not much else of note in California Adventure except the Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop.  I got the best Mint Chip ice cream with dark chocolate hot fudge sauce.  Mouth watering deliciousness.  We were very happy afterward.

We also went to Downtown Disney which is a shopping area.  The coolest thing there was the Lego store and this almost lifesize depiction of Prince Philip and the Dragon made all out of Legos.  Awesome!

In all, we rode almost all the rides.  I went on more rides than my husband, but that's okay.  He did go on the teacups all by himself and survived.  His favorite rides were Captain Eo (not sure this counts as a ride) and Astroblasters.  My favorites were all of them!  I loved Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Matterhorn, Peter Pan's Flight, and others.  If you ever need another adult hand to take your family to Disneyland, sign me up.  It is awesome and I had a blast (and so, presumably, did my husband).
