For dessert for Christmas I decided to make a chocolate pudding pie with an Oreo cookie crust made by yours truly. So I got some Oreos and some pudding and went to work. As a stereotypical housewife, I shop for my plastics at the dollar store; that is my ziploc bags, plastic wrap and aluminum foil come from the dollar store. So, as I went to crush my Oreos with my rolling pin, it turned out that my ziploc gallon bag just couldn't handle the stress. My Oreo crumbs started falling out all the little holes that my very sharp (apparently) cookie crumbs made. In any case, I switched to my mini food processor to crush these cookies and it worked pretty well: there was just a little more cleaning up than I wanted. Oh well.
So I melted some butter into my pie plate and threw in some Oreo crumbs and patted them down to make the no-bake crust. I actually made this crust two days before we were going to consume it. I wanted to cut down on my holiday baking and cooking for Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve I cooked the chocolate pudding and threw that onto the crust and refrigerated it until it was done. Luckily it was ready for Christmas Eve dinner. I also threw some more crumbs on top of the pie. I really was throwing things left and right!
The good thing about this pie is that everyone enjoyed it. And it would be easy to do in other flavors.
You said you used Oreos to make the crust. I'm not familiar with Oreo crusts; did you leave the filling in the cookies or did you scrape it off before you crushed them? I think I would scrape it off and eat it in a big glob because that's my favorite part of the cookie. :-)
