Earlier this summer, my friend and I decided that we wanted to take a quilt class together. We chose our class and paid our dues and then had to wait almost two months! But on Thursday, we had our class...I haven't been to a quilt class in about 6 years, but it was just like I remembered. The quilt pattern was created by our teacher so it is unique. There is no other like it. Therefore, I took more pictures so I could remember what I was doing in six months or two years or more if necessary. Also, since I only planned to finish one trial block, I chose some pretty arbitrary colors. I still like it though.
Here are two reference pictures for ironing purposes. Very important for nesting your seams nicely.
Here is the front of the above block. This is the center block.
Here is the next part. This consists of paper piecing and regular piecing.
Here it is laid out waiting to be all sewn together. The instructor thought I was making an Easter egg. Maybe so.
The finished block. I'm not going to do much more with this, but I think I might experiment with color a little now that I know how everything is put together. It took three hours to go through this process.
I love it! I want it! :-}
