This week I see before me never ending time to do my crafts and sewing projects without interruptions: a glorious week all to myself. What could be better!? Maybe actually blogging about my projects too! Unfortunately a lot of my projects right now are Christmas or other presents so I can't blog about them until they have been given...I don't want to ruin anyone's surprise after all.
However, I have a friend who is pregnant and due in December. Since she is moving, of all things, I have to give her the baby's presents early. And since the baby doesn't really care if I ruin her surprise, I am going to post about this cute little dress before I give it away. Bum, bum, bum!
So I bought a baby pattern for a dollar at my local fabric store. I thought it was really cute, hence the reason I bought it. I dug up some super delicate, cute fabric (the copyright on the selvage said year 2000 so my mom probably bought this fabric) and got to work. Based on experience I decided to make the smallest pattern possible, supposedly for a newborn. Ha! They are crazy. I compared it to a 12 month dress I have and they are almost similar. So unfortunately for the new baby, she won't get to wear her dress for at least 9 months to a year.
Here is the bodice.
Here is the nearly completed dress, including the zipper.
Here is the finished dress complete with trim. I think it is adorable! It probably looks pretty big because of the angle of my camera but it's not too long. I hope that one day, the little baby girl can fit into this dress.
Oh my goodness Kat....it's adorable!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I remember buying that fabric and I still like it. Someone suggested getting doll patterns to make little baby items. I can't figure out what the pattern companies are thinking.
ReplyDeleteI think some of the Kwik Sew patterns are better sized, however, they are expensive. Good job!
:-}
Very cute. A little length is good. I always made, and still do, Leilani's dresses long. Multiple people told me she wouldn't be able to crawl in them, but she did, they never slowed her down and she was always modest.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!!
