Since today was a holiday, I was being extra crafty and trying out all sorts of new things. I also had all this time because I finally finished my Halloween costume and could do some other sewing. Watch after Halloween to see the saga of my costume. Anyway. I bought a pattern two Christmases ago that included stockings and ornaments. Mainly I bought it for the star ornament that I thought was so cute. I decided that today would be the day I would finally try it out.
I got out some fabric that I really like because it is classic (in my opinion). Here are the pattern pieces all laid out to be cut.
This was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. All I had to do was follow the instructions! Here it is after I sewed it up and stuffed it full. You have to slip stitch the back together so there is some hand sewing involved.
Initially, I thought this star was too big. I like small, petite things, especially for my Christmas tree. You can see on my cutting mat in the above picture that from tip to tip it is about 5.5 inches. Well, I put my fears to the side and finished by sewing on the hanging string and the bells on all the points. I still thought it was too big until I hung it on the door knob of the room I was in. I loved it right there! It doesn't have to go on my tree! I can be creative and put it somewhere else. So I think I will make them the same size and see if anyone at the craft fair wants to buy one.
I love it! Door handles are always in need of decoration. You could do one for every month! :-}
