The Blue Skirt

I went to Joann's the other day (who knows which day; "stereotypical" housewives are always in Joann's) and got a pattern for a whole 99¢.  I also got the fabric on sale which made me happy.  Well, after making this skirt, I have decided to give the pattern away to DI.

You may look at my picture and think that this skirt is awesome.  I concur.  I especially like the drape in the front.  However, this is a wraparound skirt and it was tediously difficult to alter.  Awful.  And I didn't even alter it enough so that it actually fits well.  I haven't entirely finished this skirt but I will, and I'll wear it at least once.  The best and worst part of this skirt is also that it is made out of spandex-you know, swimsuit fabric.  That's why it drapes so well and that's why I got it.  It was actually a pretty easy pattern to use, but I need it to already fit me without alterations for this to be worth it again.  It might also look better if I modeled it in a nice blouse instead of my El Tour shirt...another conundrum; I have nothing to wear with this light blue skirt.  Ahh, the problems of a "stereotypical" Mormon housewife.

  1. Love the drape, but alas, this is one of the pitfalls of sewing your own clothes. You never quite know if the pattern/fabric/look will turn out well. It's happened to me many times. Sigh! :-}
