Alex Rider: Reluctant Teenage Spy

The Alex Rider series is written by Anthony Horowitz.  His website contains synopses for all nine of the books in the series with Scorpia Rises being the last in the series.  For some reason I love these books.  Alex Rider, who recently turned fourteen, has a life changing experience that leads to his new job of being a spy for MI6.  I won't tell you all the gory details (and there are gory details) but the nine books take place over the course of about 15 months with each adventure getting a little more harried than the last one.  There is hardly any language in these books but there is plenty of death, murder, mayhem, and destruction.  One thing I really like is that the author has actually done research into the amazing feats of Alex Rider to make sure that they could really happen.  You will ask yourself multiple times in the course of one book, 'could that really happen?' and the answer is usually 'yes, however unlikely, but it could happen.'  The books are a little formulaic but that's what makes them lovable to me.  Venture into the world of spies, gadgets, and saving the day by reading the adventures of Alex Rider!
