The Tragedy Paper

Not much has happened because my parents came for a visit and I was busy being entertained by them.  I did happen to finish reading The Tragedy Paper by Elizabeth Laban.  This book takes place at a private prep school where school traditions run rampant and affect all of the characters in the story.  When Duncan arrives for his senior year he finds a set of CDs in his room, a gift from the previous resident, Tim.  Contained on these CDs is the meat of The Tragedy Paper.  These CDs tell the story of Tim, who comes to Irving School for the last semester of his senior year to find some peace and have some fun.  From the minute you start reading this, you can tell that everything is leading up to one, all encompassing, and perhaps tragic, event.

Within this novel are themes of love, loneliness, tradition, and friendship.  Get to know the characters as they struggle to do what's right and as they attack the requirements set before them.  Be sure to read the chapter headings so you aren't confused about the time and narrator.  I don't remember there being a lot of language in this one but there is some meanness, as only teenagers can accomplish.
