A New Old Skirt

About eight months to a year ago I made a skirt.  It was a new pattern and was slightly wraparound.  I used lycra because I knew it wouldn't wrinkle and I wouldn't have to iron it ever.  I used a rolled hem created by my serger which made it even easier to make this skirt.  So after it was almost finished (just needed some buttons) I tried it on and it was too small.  That was very disappointing.  So I laid it on the bed and forgot about it.  Piles of other projects soon covered this forgotten skirt.  About five months ago I unearthed this skirt and I tried it on again and still didn't like it.  Even three months ago I tried it on and debated just giving it away.  Then a couple weeks ago I tried it on and said, "yes, it finally fits," and so I finally finished it.  I sewed those two buttons on and that was that.  Who cares that I didn't have anything that remotely matches the light blue of the skirt; I was wearing it to church no matter what!

I wore it with the turquoise blouse I made a few months ago and I thought it turned out well.  I felt sort of gypsy-ish that day.  I always feel pretty good about my skills when everything I'm wearing is homemade.  Thanks Mom!  You taught me well.
