Mini-Bow Tucks Purse

Almost nine months ago I went to a craft fair with a friend of mine and she bought a purse pattern, fabric and materials to make the purse.  She is a beginning seamstress and I said I would love to help her learn how to make the purse.  We worked on it once last year and never again.  About six months later she was going through her things to get rid of stuff so I took the project with the goal to finish it for her.  So that's what I did.

Here's the outside of one side of the purse.

Here's one side of the lining with some inner pockets sewn in.

Here is the entire lining sewn together like a purse.

Here's the outside of the purse with the handles attached.  The white is the batting that will soon be between the outside and the inner lining.

So the next step was to sew the outside to the inside and then pull it right side out.  I thought it looked funny so I took a picture of it me trying to pull the purse right side out.

Whew...I was successful!  I thought this was funny too so I took a picture.  This is before I stuffed the lining back into the purse.

The purse also had a cardboard base at the bottom so I had to make a sleeve for the cardboard.  I cut up some cardboard I had from a calendar I had lying around (I have a ton of these...2014 calendars were on sale at the grocery store for 39 cents!) and sewed this pillowcase type sleeve.

It looks good at the bottom of this purse.

And here is the (almost) finished product.  I still need a button to finish it off but otherwise it is done.  I am happy with it but I am pretty sure she will think it is too big since she likes her purses small.  I'm sure she'll find something to do with it though.  I had a good time learning some new techniques and working on something other than quilts and clothes.
