"When obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment, God will endow us with power."
I found this while I was serving a mission in Norway and it has stuck with me since then. I had companions who thought it was better not to ask permission for questionable things, just forgiveness after the fact. I remember one instance specifically that I asked whether something was appropriate first and my companion got super mad at me (because it turned out we couldn't do it). This was probably the first time I had encountered this attitude with someone I knew well, but not the last time.
This quote reminds me that knowing the commandments and following them is the core of obedience. Acting ignorant when you are not ignorant won't help. Acting ignorant when you can find answers through revelation and the gift of the Holy Ghost won't help either. So, when I finally am able to seek for the ability to keep all the commandments with joy, God will endow me with power. I am not saying that we don't have any power through our other covenants. The quote merely reminds me what kind of attitude I should have toward the commandments and obedience.
I've never heard that quote before, but I wish I had. I love it! Thanks for sharing.
