The Half-Apron

I married a man that is the seventh of eight children.  By the time we met, he was the seventh to get married.  This situation is lame to me (not the marriage part because I love my husband) because I missed out on all the previous weddings of people who I have come to think of as my immediate family.  So I got this great idea to make a really late bridal shower present for my sister-in-law.  I don't even know when she married into the family (there are just too many dates to remember in a family of 10!), but I knew she liked aprons similar to this one from Liberty Home Sewing:

Conveniently, I already had a pattern that I bought approximately 15 years ago that was very similar to this very apron!  I had never used it, so I prepared it and got sewing.  I actually got the fabric in Las Vegas when I was on-the-go this spring.  In the picture, my chair is wearing the apron so it looks a little funny, but you get the idea.

I also made semi-matching hot pads from the leftover fabric, which were really fun to make except when my machine decided to go super-crazy on me!  I loved the cupcake fabric so much that I had to get some more for me.

The only problem with making gifts is that I can't post them on my blog until the receiver gets them.  Poor me; boo hoo.
