This blog will include descriptions of all the really cool stuff I think I do. Maybe you'll think some of it is cool too.

Bittersweet
After a rough slew of books that were inappropriate and not worth finishing I finally found this gem by Sarah Ockler. Called Bittersweet, it chronicles the life and times of Hudson Avery, a high schooler in Watonka, Michigan. Hudson is an ice skater and cupcake maker, a sister and a girl just trying to make her way through high school while juggling her many interests. She makes friends, she loses friends, she experiences highs and lows just like we all do. She also experiments with different flavored cupcakes and the descriptions at the beginning of each chapter are charming. The novel has themes of love, friendship, family and choosing priorities. And don't forget the appearance of Shelvis-you'll have to read it to believe it. Although the book is close to 400 pages, it doesn't feel like it is long or laborious. There is language so watch out!
