You may or may not know this but stereotypical housewives who happen to quilt are also generally stereotypical quilters. As a stereotypical quilter, I have a hard time throwing fabric away; especially since I like to make miniature quilts which require lots of miniature scraps of fabric. Nothing is too small to keep. It takes a great amount of effort for a quilter to throw fabric away-it is just a tragedy to watch it go to waste. Hence, the quilter's stash. Not only are we crazy about buying fabric, we just can't get rid of it either. Well, today I declare that I will break the mold! No more bags with scraps from my already finished projects. None of that. And here is the post to prove it.
You may remember that I made this American flag over the summer. The pattern for making it yielded a lot of leftovers, but not enough leftovers to actually make another flag. I set the scraps to the side in October to work on other projects. Good thing too or I wouldn't have had the time to ruminate on what to do with those scraps. Just this week I got those scraps out to see if I could make a smaller flag that would still look like a flag. Here is the finished project. What do you think? I actually got three of these little flags out of the scraps. Unfortunately, I still have some leftovers and am still debating whether to throw them away or not.
Great job using up the scraps! I love this!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Could make placemats out of it.
ReplyDeleteYou could also make coasters.
DeleteI've got the same scraps - I guess I could make mini flags too. Thanks for the inspiration. :-}
