A Window in Autumn

Back in May I bought some fall fabrics that were so adorable.  I loved the little animals running around.  I especially liked the little field mouse or whatever rodent he is supposed to be.  I didn't have a specific pattern in mind for this fabric but I wanted my finished product to highlight the animals.  I ended up just making up my own pattern.

In these first two I wanted to see if what I envisioned in my head would look good in real life.  I also needed to choose which brown fabric to use as an accent fabric.  You can also see my "design."  After this, I wrote down measurements and cutting instructions.

Then I got to work sewing and cutting.  Here is one of my cornerstone type blocks.  I thought it was cute all by itself.  I may make more out of the leftovers.  You can also see the brown I chose.

Here is my process.

The finished quilt with quilting and binding.  It's ready to go!

A close up of my two favorites, the rodent and the owl.  Maybe I shouldn't have put them right next to each other...

I was pretty impressed that what I envisioned in my head came to life so neatly.  I do wish that I had made the in-between leafy fabrics a little skinnier, but I still think it looks good.  To me it's like looking at a big picture window out into the Autumn landscape.  Unfortunately I won't be able to enjoy it for long this year because I'll be decorating for Christmas in approximately two weeks!!!  (Don't judge me, I have my reasons)
