Thought of the Sunday 41

I have been reading in my brand new November 2014 Ensign magazine and thoroughly enjoying the talks that were given to us in General Conference in October.  One of them, given by Elder Richard G Scott, was entitled Make the Exercise of Faith Your First Priority.  He pointed out four tools and said: "When these tools become fundamental habits, they provide the easiest way to find peace in the challenges of mortality."  Who doesn't want the easiest way to find peace in this life?  I listened hard after this part.  His four tools were prayer, scripture study, regular family home evening, and temple attendance.  I just want to mention a quote about prayer.  If you want to read more about his four tools here is the link.

Of prayer he said:

"Choose to converse with your Father in Heaven often.  Make time every day to share your thoughts and feelings with Him.  Tell Him everything that concerns you.  He is interested in the most important as well as the most mundane facets of your life.  Share with Him your full range of feelings and experiences.
Because He respects your agency, Father in Heaven will never force you to pray to Him.  But as you exercise that agency and include Him in every aspect of your daily life, your heart will begin to fill with peace, buoyant peace.  That peace will focus an eternal light on your struggles.  It will help you to manage those challenges from an eternal perspective."

I have hope in this promise, that if I turn to God and pray that peace can be mine and I can see things with an eternal perspective.  But it is up to us to come to Him and voluntarily pray and involve Him in our lives. Hopefully in times of trial I can rely on prayer.  Then with the peace I receive I will see beyond the bitter now and always look forward to a bright future filled with faith and prayer.  Maybe by doing so, the bitter won't be so bitter either.
