Thought of the Sunday 44

The December issue of the Church magazine, Ensign, had a great article about angels in it and I read it this week.  It gave me some great thoughts about things I hadn't really thought about.  The article quotes a talk by Elder Jeffrey R Holland from the November 2008 Ensign.  He said, "Usually such beings are not seen.  Sometimes they are.  But seen or unseen they are always near...I testify that angels are still sent to help us, even as they were sent to help Adam and Eve, to help the prophets, and indeed to help the Savior of the world Himself...."  As I sat reading this I began to think about how often our Heavenly Father uses angels.  It seemed to me that they were everywhere in scriptures and church history, so why not today?  Of course angels administer to us today; it just seems naturally right since God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

The article says this, "The fact that God sends angels is a sign of His love for His children and His commitment to helping us return to Him and receive eternal life...Remember what Mormon taught: angelic ministrations are proof of God's love and of the fact that He hasn't given up on us yet, and they're proof that there is still faith on the earth."

I believe that angels can be sent as heavenly messengers but also that the people around us can act as angels or messengers for our Heavenly Father.  We can all be instruments in His hands as we follow the promptings of the Spirit to serve others which means that we can be angels to others as well.  So I am going to challenge myself and you to see and recognize the angels in our lives and to identify the angelic experiences we should be having as faith filled members of His Church.
