So I went to Hancock's yesterday to look at patterns since they were on sale. I was mainly looking for maternity but I did find a pattern for a maxi skirt (you know, with the knit waistband) that I thought would be perfect for pregnancy. Now I never, ever thought that I would jump on the bandwagon for this kind of skirt, but I never really thought about what I would wear when I got pregnant. So, I am jumping!
Here is the pattern. I already had enough fabric to make it so all I had to spend was $1.00 on the pattern and my time making the skirt. That's the kind of clothes I like to make! The only thing I did differently was make it shorter. I don't love to-the-floor skirts so mine is shorter than that with a more modest slit.
Here is the finished product. Of course, it is too big and it looks it. I had hoped to be able to wear it right away, but I think that in two to three weeks it will be perfect (and will hopefully last a few months). Besides, I still have plenty of things I can wear to church right now, before I start really showing. I used some knit that I had lying around with the rest of a sheet that I had made another skirt with previously.
The side view. I have my shirt folded up a little oddly so it looks a little weird in the picture.
And in the beginning I can wear it with the waist folded over, but as I get further along in my pregnancy I can totally go Steve Urkel with it if I want to. Check out this waistband! It goes at least six inches above my belly button, if not more.
I love your reference to Steve Urkel!
