Thought of the Sunday 14

Happy Easter friends and family!  I always used to say that Easter was my favorite holiday.  I think that was because of the candy and the egg hunting and not because it's the day we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior.  Now that I've grown up, Easter isn't my favorite holiday but I still like remembering the holy week and the atonement and resurrection.

"Resurrection is the reuniting of the spirit with the body in an immortal state, no longer subject to disease or death...An understanding and testimony of the resurrection can give us hope and perspective as we experience the challenges, trials, and triumphs of life" (Guide to the Scripures).  Resurrection is a gift to all of us through our Savior, Jesus Christ.  He performed the atonement so that we could all overcome physical death through resurrection.  To me that means that my body is special and that I will stand before my Heavenly Father to be judged in the (nearly) exact body that I have right now.  That is amazing to me.  I will look like me and still be me with my personality and experiences.

John 11: 25-26  "Jesus said unto her (Martha), I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die."

Because of the resurrection we know that death is not the end of our lives.  We will all die, but we will all live again because of Christ.  When loved ones pass on before us we can know the same about them: they will live again.  What a blessing it is to know of Christ and the Atonement and to be able to remember His resurrection on this Easter day.

"Why seek ye the living among the dead?  He is not here, but is risen..." (John 24:5-6).
