One thing I learned this week was what 'nurturing' means. "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" states that "Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children." I am not a mother yet, but I can learn about what I should do so that when it actually happens, I may be more able to nurture.
I was reading in Daughters in My Kingdom, the new history of Relief Society book and this is what it had to say about nurturing (p. 156-157): Nurturing means to train, teach, educate, foster development, promote growth, nourish, fee, cultivate, care for, make grow. Another word for nurturing is homemaking; which means cooking, washing clothes, dishes, keeping an orderly home. Nurturing requires organization, patience, love and work.
So there are a lot of things that go into nurturing and I hope I can get enough practice in so that when I finally get to be a mother to my own children, I will have some idea of what I should at least be trying to do.
Did you know that the Ten Commandments are given in Exodus 20 but then are repeated nearly word for word in Deuteronomy 5? You do now.
