So I was on facebook (a vital resource for us housewives) and a friend had posted a recipe for rolls that looked like they would be fun to try. So I translated it and confirmed my translation with the author, Gunn-Helen Moen and went to work. It was actually super easy. They are very Norwegian: no salt, no sugar, and lots of "stuff."
The black things are black sesame seeds, not poppy seeds. These rolls are not like American rolls that are generally light and fluffy. These are hardy and meant to be used for kveldsmat eller smoerbroed which is basically an open-faced sandwich. Yummy! I love Norway and Norwegian things and speaking Norwegian! Jeg er glad i deg, Norge!
