We Bought a Zoo

Matt Damon?  Sure why not.  So I went to see We Bought a Zoo and it was pretty entertaining.  I went with a friend so that was even better.  Knowing that it was based on a true story, I sought the book out.

Well, we all know that whenever Matt Damon sets out to act in a movie based on the book, rest assured that the only things that are the same are the title and the names of some of the characters (usually the main characters only).  After reading the book, which takes place in England, I can attest to the fact that Matt Damon has done it again!  Well, at least I can separate between movies and books and say that they are both enjoyable despite the fact that they are not one and the same.  For those who don't know, this happened with the Bourne series as well.  The books are much better but they are much more graphic and I can't recommend them to my non-violence group here.  But that's not what this post is about!

We Bought a Zoo was engaging enough that even I wasn't too bored, which I notoriously am for non-fiction books.  I am planning my trip to my local zoo for next week, because, after reading this, I must go!  There are about 10 expletives scattered throughout the book and one page in particular that I skipped over because of language (page 161), so watch out.  There is also a brief discussion about animals being gay which was totally unnecessary but seemed to be included because of the author's interest in the subject.  In general, I liked the book.
