So I was really down when I didn't get to make a new Easter outfit to wear to church (it just wasn't in the cards timewise) so I decided to make a new Mother's Day outfit. I started with the blouse and I used a brand new pattern:
I made the black and white short sleeved shirt but with a full collar. I like that Asian type collar but there was no way I was going to button this one up to the top button. I used a very delicate swiss dot fabric that I purchased at Joann's last year. I didn't get a picture of the blouse alone but here is a close up of the fabric:
After I finished the blouse I went in search for some skirt fabric. I had three different patterns in mind depending on the fabric I found that matched. I knew I wanted a purple skirt even though there was turquoise in the shirt. For me, it's all about purple. Also, it is much easier for me to take self pictures of skirts since the height of one our tables is the height of my waist. Here is the adorable pleated skirt I made, complete with accent bow. I've made this skirt four times but this is the only one that fits me; it actually ended up a little too big but I was done fiddling with it at this point.
And here is the ensemble put together for last Sunday. I thought it was pretty cute and I got tons of compliments on it. Sorry you can't see the whole thing; I can't always control my photographer. But I've included another picture that gives you another look.
