A Christmas Purse

While my husband and I were vacationing I went to a quilt store (big surprise!) and they had an entire half of a room devoted to Christmas fabric.  I was in heaven, I tell you.  I could not decide which fabrics I wanted because I wanted all of them.  One entire wall was covered in awesome panels.  I picked things up and then put them back, over and over again.  I was one seriously indecisive quilter.  I finally decided that I would make a Christmas purse and that gave me the direction I needed to make a decision and get out of there!

I bought three fat quarters and came home and got to work.  Here's what it looks like.  I actually don't like it very much but I will still use it in December.  Why not?  Not everyone has a holiday purse after all.

Here are two process pictures.  This is the main body of the purse.

This is the pocket and upper section of the purse.

Here is the finished purse.  I wish the zig zags were going the other way, but I didn't have enough fabric to do that.  The other reason I don't like it much is that it doesn't look like a Christmas purse to me: just a red and green purse.

  1. I agree with you, it looks like a red and green purse. You did a nice job, but even if the zig zag fabric was going the other way, it wouldn't make it more Christmas-y. Try making one with tree, angel or gingerbread fabric. :-} mom
