Mount Timpanogas

Even though it has been months since I have been to Mt. Timpanogas, I still want to blog about it.  It was late June when I went and the weather was wonderful.  It was cool, cloudy and rainy.  That kind of weather always results in awesome pictures so here are some of them.  According to my memory, Mt. Timpanogas was the first cave I ever visited.  I was about ten when we took a trip to Utah and climbed up this mountain to see the caves inside.  Up until this year I had vague recollections of how hard the trail was and being in the cave.  Well, it was totally worth it to visit again and have my memory jogged.  I love caves and returning to my first experience of caves was awesome.

My first picture in the park.  It was a beautiful day.

Before you can go up the 1 mile trail you have to go to a briefing where a ranger tells you the rules: absolutely no running on the trail and watch out for rock slides.  If there is a rock slide, you will hear a sound like clapping; duck as close to the mountain as you can and cover your head.  I am here to tell you that rock slides really do sound like clapping.

A view looking east on the trail.  Scenery all around.

A view looking west on the trail toward Utah valley.

Here is a series of pretty scenery shots.  Enjoy.

And last, but not least, here is a video that demonstrates the beauty of the day.  I was pounding down the steep trail when I heard this fabulous bird call and had to film it.
