While my husband and I were vacationing I went to a thrift store and saw the cutest sheet ever. Sheets make great skirts! I call them my Sound of Music skirts; even though Maria used drapes and I'm using sheets, the concept is the same: reuse. And the great thing about sheets is that they are generally very flowy even though they are cotton. And you get a ton of "fabric" in just one twin sheet. The only problem with using sheets is that they are so wide that I always have to cut out my pattern on the floor which is never as fun as using a cutting table.
So I got my sheet for $2.00 and got to work. Actually, parts of the sheet were pretty ratty so I tried to make those sections invisible, ie. part of the lining. Here it is, looking pretty snazzy. I just loved the hearts and the swirlies and stripes. I got a few compliments when I wore it.
What's not to like about it? It's pink!
