Some of you know that I am doing an ongoing bake sale fundraiser to raise funds for Tu Nidito Children's Services. I am riding for them in El Tour this year (I have ridden for them three previous years as well). So I was riding my bike one day and trying to think of a way to earn more than $500, which is my previous record. How could I reach more people?? And then it hit me that some people loved my baked goods and would pay for them. I went to my former co-workers first and they jumped all over it.
Monday was my first baking and delivery day. I was a little worried how much time it would take to bake dozens of cookies but I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing I made was the brownies. I made a triple batch; that sure was a lot of batter! I used five cups of sugar too: sheesh!
Here is my kitchen with all the supplies ready to go.
While the brownies baked I was able to make the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie dough. I only needed one dozen of them so I formed the rest into balls and stuck them in the freezer. At the same time (or so it seemed) I made the chocolate chip cookie dough. I stuck that in the fridge until I was ready for it. I needed three dozen of them so I ended up baking them all.
Here are my dual projects. I wasn't worried about cross contamination since the cookies were very similar. I will be more careful when I make things with nuts in them.
And finally, all my finished products, cooling and waiting to be packaged. It only took about 2 hours to bake all of this but it seemed like I was cleaning the kitchen for the rest of the day. I delivered these items in the afternoon and got $50 out of it. All proceeds go to Tu Nidito so that got me excited. And it all came from people who haven't donated before so that was awesome (and no, I did not sample any of these)!
Wow Kat very impressive!
