Musical Quilt

We found out our final move date last week and it is only weeks away, which is making me start to panic just a little.  You may recommend that I should sit down and sew to relax but once I start sewing I start thinking of all of the moving stuff I want to get done.  It just takes all the fun out of it!  Two weeks ago I started this little quilt and the minute I started it I wanted to stop and get back to moving stuff.  I persevered however and ended up with this little musical quilt for my piano bench.  I bought all this fabric at the same lovely quilt store except for the white which I got at a different lovely quilt store.

Here are the separate pieces of the quilt: the hourglass blocks, the foursquare blocks and the bear claw blocks.

This is the center of the little quilt.  It measures about 12 x 12.

Then I added on the hourglass strips to the sides.

Here it is with the border, binding and totally complete and ready for use.

Previously I sat on a hand towel because sitting directly on the wood was somehow uncomfortable and I wanted to protect my bench a little.

Now I can sit on this pretty little thing and enjoy my musical notes.  In the future, ie. after we move, I will try and think about creating ties to tie this baby onto the piano bench.  For now, I'll just look at it since I'm not playing much right now anyway.

Here is the closeup of the fabric.  Every piece has something musical except the binding.  Even the white is really white on white treble clefs.  It just can't get any more musical than this!
