Shop Hop 2013 Blocks

As many of you know, I like to quilt a little.  In fact, I often go on shop hops with my mom to check out different quilt stores in different parts of the country.  In 2013 I went to visit my mom and we went on such a shop hop.  This particular hop is very extensive and includes over 30 shops.  They create a different line of fabrics each year specifically for the shop hop.  In 2012 I loved the shop hop fabrics and made multiple blocks and bought extra fabric to make quilts and everything.  In 2013 I did not like the shop hop fabric.  I didn't buy any extra and I hardly liked or kept any of the patterns.

As I was rummaging through my stuff getting ready to move, I found the 2013 shop hop fabrics and patterns that I had been given (yes, for free) and I decided to make a few.  Here are the patterns that I decided to keep.  I got about 15 patterns but I knew I wouldn't make some of them so I just threw them away but kept the fabric.

Here are the blocks unfinished.  I'm not sure who thought that orange and red stripe matched those flowers but whatever.

This is my least favorite block but it was still fun to put together.

This block required some special triangles that I hadn't really done before.  It was nice to try a new technique.  This is actually one of my favorites.

This is my other favorite because it is so simple.

In this one you can kind of see the pattern on the paper.  It was for a snowball block, but I switched it up because I don't like snowball blocks very much.  I got this triangle effect instead.

At this point I needed some binding, so I took all the larger pieces of fabric and made a very random binding.  Unfortunately it was only enough for 3 out of 5 blocks.  For the other 2 blocks I just used almost matching fabrics.

Here are the finished blocks.  They are 8 1/2 by 8 1/2.  I put two layers of batting inside each one so they could be used as a trivet on the table or as a little wall hanging or table decoration.  As I said above, I'm not in love with any of these fabrics so if you want one of these guys, let me know.   I'm keeping the top left one as a memento but the others are up for grabs.
