When Did I Go On My Honeymoon Again??

Here is a project I just finished today that I started many moons ago, in fact it was our first moon together: our honeymoon.  We went to the fabulous Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico.  We stayed in a little town called Artesia and spent one day in Roswell (where the highlight of the day was eating at IHOP).  At my bridal shower I got the frame you see in the picture.  I knew it was a cheap frame, probably from a thrift store, and I wasn't planning on keeping it, but in the hubbub of getting married I forgot all about it.  After our wonderful honeymoon I found the frame again and tried to brainstorm ways I could use it.  Then it hit me: I could make a collage of our honeymoon paraphernalia!  That would be fun.  Who doesn't love collages??  So I gathered the post cards and our ticket stubs and cut a piece of poster board that would fit in the frame.  All I needed after that was to order a few pictures of us.

Fast forward until yesterday...for the past 4+ years that pile of poster board and post cards sat in a box not doing anything, until I unearthed it yesterday while organizing my crafty things.  I saw it and thought, 'hey why didn't I ever make this?'  I remembered it was because I was missing pictures of us.  So yesterday I got all motivated and found our honeymoon pictures and ordered a few.  I picked them up today and made the collage.  It went pretty much as I envisioned it would more than 4 years ago.  Don't ask me why it took so long for me to get the motivation to complete this little project.  Don't ask me why, when I saw it yesterday, I didn't just leave it in the box.  Who knows why I'm motivated to do certain things at certain times?

In any case, here are my supplies.  I used double stick tape because I knew where it was and my glue sticks were eluding me.  But double stick tape is easier to remove if you mess up so I was glad I didn't find my glue sticks.  That would have been a lot more messy and sticky.

Here I am in the middle of my thought process.  I didn't want to have any white showing but I wanted as many as the cave formations showing as possible.  You can also see our little Roswell corner.

Here is my collage all set up and ready to be taped down.  Sorry that it is sideways; all I can say is I am lazy and don't feel like turning it...that takes more button-pushing.

Here it is in the middle of me taping down the background.  It went pretty well and I only had to move one picture.

And here is the finished product which I am very happy with.  It includes our tickets for special tours, pictures that we took, and post cards (because they are always better than what my personal camera can do).   Unfortunately I won't be able to enjoy it very long since I am planning to take all our stuff off of the walls soon in preparation of moving.  I just thought it would be nice to have a completed project instead of a bunch of little, easily lost pieces.  I'm sure I will happy to find a place for it in our new home.   Come visit me if you want to see it in person.
