A Little Patriotic Quilt

Back in 2012 I took a very long drive up to my parent's house.  To help break up the hours of monotony, I stopped at different quilt stores along the way.  I stopped in Yreka, a little town in Northern California that has a great little quilt store.  I was able to get this small, patriotic kit there.  Just two weeks ago, I decided to actually make it.

They packaged it pretty cute and the pattern was included inside.

Here are all my parts and pieces ready to be assembled.

Strips of red and blue stars before sewing together.

After sewing together.  This was actually pretty easy.  The creases all matched and it went together well.

Then I sewed on the corner triangles and now it looks like a rectangle.

The finished product with the border and binding.  I finished quilting it today.  It was the first thing I did on my newly serviced sewing machine.  It was a little like getting used to a brand new machine, but I think I've got it down.  This will probably go up in our new apartment...right now, it's going into a box.
