Thought of the Sunday 7

This week I was introduced to a new study tool that is kind of exciting.  I was at our Relief Society meeting on Thursday night and they talked about the LDS Scripture Citation Index.  I may have heard of it and used it before but it has been ages.  Basically some guys from Brigham Young University indexed the scriptures based on who referenced them in General Conference.  The indexing is available from 1942 until the present and the full text of the articles is available too.  That is neat because lds.org only has conferences from 1971 to present.

So to try it out, I chose some of my favorite scriptures: first Matthew 11:28-30

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

There were at least 40-50 entries for this one scripture passage.  It was very cool.  I just randomly chose one and enjoyed it.  I chose some other scriptures as well.  You can also search by speaker and other categories.  I invite you to try it out and maybe it can enrich your daily study of the scriptures by combining it with the words of modern day prophets.

  1. No way? That's awesome. This is how I'm going to start studying the scriptures- after I finish Isaiah.
