A long, long time ago, maybe 12 years, I made a rainbow skirt. I wore it all the time. I love that rainbow skirt. I typically wore it with a red top and my blue converse chucks. It was my go-to informal summer wear. Then I lost a lot of weight and because of how the skirt is made, it looked stupid on me (too big) and I was unable to alter it (too many seams to rip out). So I kept it in the back of my closet where all my skirts that don't fit me anymore live. This was slightly devastating.
Imagine my surprise when I found a piece of the same exact scrap fabric in my stash when I was packing everything away a few weeks ago. I thought it was just a few scraps but it turned out to be nearly enough fabric for a brand new skirt! I had saved the leftovers for over a decade! I got to work immediately to make a new and improved replacement. I didn't have quite enough fabric so I had to shorten the skirt a little and take smaller seams but it is still long enough for me to wear comfortably. What a find this was! I can't wait to wear it all summer!
Here's the fabric closeup so you can see the rainbow.
