A Border Skirt

I found this rayon fabric in one of my boxes of fabric (I have five boxes of fabric that I didn't unpack when we moved to our new place about six months ago) as I was searching for something else.  I brought it out, looked at it, thought it was pretty, and shoved it back in the box.  I also wondered where it came from.  Maybe it was my mom's.  I certainly didn't buy it.

Not two days later I bought a new pattern at Joann's (my favorite store, right?) that would be almost perfect for that border print.  I dug around for the fabric again and set it aside.  After all, I still needed to finish my all-purpose black skirt (see below) and I absolutely cannot start a new project until the old one is finished.  I ended up using a different pattern for the border print skirt than I anticipated but it was perfect.   Here is the skirt.  Unfortunately, no matter how I changed the lighting, there was no way to get the true colors of the skirt.

Here are the true colors and patterns of this gorgeous border print.  I never would have bought this fabric but I will definitely enjoy wearing this skirt.

And here is my all-purpose black skirt that I made to replace my other all-purpose black skirt that was getting worn out and was too big anyway.  This skirt is so exciting that it doesn't even warrant it's own blog post.  Just remember, you don't wear an all-purpose black skirt because it's awesome; you wear it because your blouse is awesome.
