Heaven is For Real

My husband and I have been going to the movies lately and we have a love/hate relationship with the previews (as I'm sure we all do).  We have now seen two previews for a movie coming out called Heaven is for Real and it is based on a book.  So, naturally, I found the book and just finished it today.  Heaven is for Real, by Todd Burpo, is the story of a little boy's close encounter with death and his ensuing trip to heaven and back and how he describes and communicates to his family about it.  Colton Burpo was nearly four years old when he had this experience and his unassuming, childlike manner is refreshing and easy to follow.

As a religious person myself, I tend to stay away from out of body experiences and near death experiences.  I'm not sure what I believe about them and after reading this book, I'm still not sure.  But I was very surprised to find that I was not offended by anything Colton described.  The things he spoke about with his family are things that I believe in.  It is a good story and whether it is true or not does not take away from the words or the experience.  Now I can't wait to see the movie.

The book, written by Colton's dad, moves along quickly and is an easy read with no language.
