Every year my work place has an auction for the local community foodbank. We all get together and auction items off and buy raffle tickets and a good time is had by all. For every $1 we spend that equates to $9 at the foodbank (the math of non-profit organizations). They have been doing it for at least 30 years. I have been participating the last 7 years. Usually I make a small quilt or placemats or something that can be auctioned off. This year, I dug around and found a small American flag that my mom started. I inherited it when I inherited her bag of 4th of July fabric. So, I decided to finish it and donate it since she obviously didn't want it. Here is what I started with:
She had pretty much already finished it so I'm not sure what stopped her. Maybe it was because she didn't have enough border fabric, but I made it work (by cutting it a quarter inch smaller and sewing it at an eighth of an inch). They basically look the same. Here is my finished quilt.
Hey, that turned out pretty well! Glad you could use it. :-}
