A New Dress

Since I've been on Spring Break I have been sewing like crazy!  It has been great.  After I finished the roosters I wanted to make something new for church.  I settled on the following pattern and wanted to make the plaid one.  To me, it was obvious that I had to make it a little longer since mid-thigh is not my style.

I decided to actually lengthen it according to the directions instead of making something up on my own.  I lengthened it by 8 1/2 inches just to be sure.  Here is what the pattern looks like, cut apart and with wax paper adding the length.

Here's what the dress looked like halfway through.  I wish I had added a little more to the neckline (it is a little wide) and the sleeves need to be just a tad longer.  At this point I thought the dress was super cute and I was excited about it and glad that it fit...but I still needed to add the ruffles.

Here is the finished dress with the ruffles and the elastic around the sleeves.  I just love ruffles!  I can't wait to wear this one to church tomorrow.  *Note: Just so you know, the pattern has a great big EASY on it.  Yeah, right.  Don't believe it for a minute.

  1. WHAT? What's wrong with mid-thigh. Everyone's doing it.

I love the ruffles at the end.
