I have been working hard to create a rooster themed kitchen. I have all sorts of fabric that I have been saving...some of it for years and years. I bought this rooster fabric in Summer 2012 in Northern California when I was traveling through. I saw him and immediately fell in love. What I didn't know is that I'd be getting two of them! So I just made two quilts. Who knows what I'm going to do with the other one. If I had a big enough kitchen I could hang them both, right? I hate to break up a pair.
I bought some companion fabric somewhere along the way of life and added it as a border. Exciting!
At this point I needed to go find some binding fabric that would match. I went to my favorite "local" quilt store and found some nice orange fabric. One of the ladies in the store said how beautiful the burnt orange fabric was. I said, "I don't know if it's beautiful but it matches." They all wanted to see what I had folded up with me (the top of the quilt). They said how lovely and beautiful it was. I said, "It's just a panel. I didn't actually do anything." But they insisted. I thought maybe they were trying to encourage the youngster. In any case, here are the finished roosters.
Since I was making two similar quilts I decided to quilt them differently. This one has random quilting...if you look closely you can see a swirly pattern where the rooster is.
For the quilting on this one I tried to follow some of the lines of the panel itself. If you look closely at the rooster you may be able to see lines that look like outlines (or inlines?). I can't decide which one I like better, but this is the one I hung in my kitchen. I am one step closer to the ultimate rooster kitchen! On to the placemats (that I bought fabric for back in 2007!)!
I love, love, love them! Do they have hens to match? :-}
