Thought of the Sunday 12

Some of you know that the Mormons are pretty famous for their choir.  The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has been doing weekly radio/tv broadcasts for the past million years called Music and the Spoken Word.  They usually sing a bunch of uplifting songs and then have a spiritual thought/message.  I have been watching these broadcasts every Sunday via byutv and they have been great.

Today's message started out with this phrase, "If you were arrested for kindness would there be enough evidence to convict you?"  That made me laugh out loud at first and then I thought about it:  would a random stranger be able to dig enough evidence out of my life to label me as a kind person?  And I started thinking about some of the things I do that could be classified as kind.  I invite you to do the same.  We are often very hard on ourselves but we don't need to be.  We are kind to others, even if it is just cooking dinner and making sure the laundry is done-that totally counts.  Other things that count could be praying for other people, calling them or sending emails/letters, and/or service of any kind.  And I think that we tend to say we aren't serving anyone if it is just our family.  Our family is the most important unit in our world.  Who better to serve than them?

The Savior is everlastingly kind.  He did so much for us and He will continue doing so forever.  From Psalms 117:2:

"For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever."

We have been admonished to follow His example in every thing we do.  We have the power to bring more kindness into the world, even if we don't feel very kind.  We can pray for kindness toward others and He will help us achieve it.
