A Bathroom Quilt

I have been in the process of transforming one of my bathrooms to have a seahorse theme.  I don't do a lot of themes in my house because I just put things up wherever I feel like and it can be a little crazy at times.  But I got a cute little seahorse last fall and then another one for Christmas and I also found this adorable sealife fabric line.  I just had to have it.  Here is one of the fabrics I purchased:

As you can see this fabric is directional, which means it has a clear up and down pattern.  I didn't want to have upside down octopi.  So I created a pattern for my directional fabrics.  Here is what it looked like on paper:

So I started cutting and sewing and I have to say that as I put this together I did not like it.  It was hard to cut straight lines since the fabric wasn't printed correctly on the bolt.  I didn't think I used a wide enough sashing in between fabrics.  I just didn't like the look of it.  I decided to finish it anyway since I had enough fabric to make another quilt later.

When I got the borders and the binding on I liked it a lot better.  It turned from a 'meh' type of quilt to an 'ah, that's so cute' quilt (lucky for me).

Here is a closeup of the middle fabric that I fell in love with.  I love seahorses!!
