A Christmas Wallhanging

Some of you may have received homemade Christmas cards this year.  I bought some fabric, cut it up and sewed it to some cardstock.  I beaded on them too.  There were six different scenes.  Here are some of the finished ones.

I showed them to one of my good friends and she fell in love.  She was hoping I was making them to sell at the craft fair.  She also said something about framing one.  It was at this point that I hatched my plan to make her a small Christmas wallhanging with one of the cards.  I wasn't sure how I was going to do it, but I wanted there to be a border and it to be hung easily.

I started by quilting it and I added tags at the top so it could be hung by a small dowel.

After quilting it, I sewed on the binding.  It was basically finished at this point.  But, of course, it needed embellishments.

So I beaded it and made it pretty.  I also went to ACE Hardware to get a dowel for hanging.  I painted the dowel a little darker color to match the brown in the block.  The dowel in the picture hasn't been painted yet.

I liked it so much that I had to make one for myself.  I love old-fashioned Christmas things!

  3. Love my card too. Great idea for making it into a display. I plan to put mine out each year. I've hung one of your gifts to me on the wall near my front door. I have a picture I'll have to post somewhere so you can see.
