Thought of the Sunday 5

Here is a scripture that was pointed out to me in church today that I really, really liked.  It's from the Doctrine and Covenants, which is a book that mainly contains the revelations of the prophet Joseph Smith.

D & C 58:3-4

Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall com hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.

For after much tribulation come the blessings.  Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand.

From this scripture I learn many things.  I don't know God's plan concerning me or the things that will come to me if I'm obedient.  I don't know what He has planned for my life.  But, if I stay obedient I know that there will be glory after any tribulation I will have.  I will receive blessings; I may not have those blessings right now but they will be mine.  I think, as with many things, patience is the key.  In this life, we want instant gratification and we think our reward for good behavior should be given now.  But that's not how God works.  He will always keep His promises.  He is always clear on what those promises are.  It is our job to be patient as we wander through the trials and successes of this life.  This scripture acts as a reminder that even though bad things might happen, there are always good things to come.
